I recently traveled to Cuba, Mo along historic route 66 for some family business.  While there, I found out they have some fantastic looking murals around town.  Posted below are a few of the murals.  Being a history buff, my favs were the Civil War murals.

Enjoy!

As I sit here typing this, yet another snow storm is winding down over Iowa.  Today brought anywhere from 1-6 inches of new snow and the best part, 20-30mph winds with gusts to as high as 50 mph!  Many roads again are impassable, with the DOT pulling plows due to visibility issues.  Even major roads such as I-35 North of Des Moines are closed due to blizzard conditions.

Last week didn’t bring us snow, but a lovely ice storm.  Luckily, I didn’t lose power at my house, but several thousands across the state did.  Even almost a week later, power still hasn’t been restored to everybody.

We’ve had some major snow falls this winter. In fact I heard an interesting piece of weather information tonight on the news.  So far this winter, Des Moines has received 40″ of snow.  This is 2 feet above normal.  Ohhh I can’t wait till this all starts melting! ;-)

Amongst staying busy with work, trying not to go into the ditch, and trying to stay warm; I have been making a few changes in regards to chasing equipment for the 2010 season.  I currently have a “a new to me” laptop, which I plan on using this year. It’s an HP, but it’s a definite upgrade from my trusty Dell which I’ve had for several years.  I’m also working towards some major upgrades on the still photography front and even possibly an upgraded camcorder.  I’ve made some mods to my Filmtools vacuum mount and have managed to mount my small bogen tripod head onto it.  This should work well, as I’ll be able to pan a lot easier. I’m also planning on streaming this year with my Hi-8 Sony camcorder and of course plan on sticking with Chasertv.com.  Last year was my first year streaming and I used a Logitech Pro-9000 webcam.  While small and easy to use, it didn’t really please me with the greatest quality of video.  This year should be different.

I’ve posted some pics below that I shot a couple of weeks ago around the area.  We no longer have this amount of snow on the ground, due to some awesome warm weather we’ve had, but it’s still pretty cool to see the amount of snow.

Enjoy!

As many people know, a large a massive storm system hit the country last week.  While the south got storms and rain, Iowa got nailed with a blizzard.  I don’t really have any pics to share, since I was stuck at work for 3 days since we received about 14-16″ of snow along with 40-50 mph winds.  All I can say is at least we’ll have a white xmas!

Link to KCCI’s user submitted photos. The comments for each pic are kind of amusing!
