About Me

July 25th, 2009

Like many other storm chasers and weather junkies, I became fascinated with weather at a young age.  I fell in love with all mother has to offer.  From blizzards to tornadoes, I like em all.   In addition to my love of mother nature, I’ve had an avid interest in photography since being in high school.  I’m Iowa born and raised and currently have no plans on leaving this great state.

I started storm chasing in the late 1990′s and to date have logged several thousands of miles chasing not only storms, but many various types of weather.  I’ve been known to film/photograph everything from blizzards, to clouds, to floods, to tornadoes.

Storm chasing has led to many other things in my life.  Just after the turn of the century, I obtained my tech-level amatuer radio license.  Several years later I changed my call sign to an easier to pronounce call sign of KØSVR, which I use to this day.  I’ve met many interesting people over the years through ham radio and have enjoyed my time as a ham radio operator.  I can also by located via APRS under the call sign KØSVR-9.

Along with amateur radio, I have taught myself over the years how to do my own weather forecasts for days when I’ll likely be chasing.  The internet has been a big help over the years in learning various aspects of meteorology.

Someday I can only hope to be able to storm chase as a full time job, but for now it will remain one of my main hobbies.
